If it were up to me...
Going No Where Fast
Have you ever been driving and it seems that everyone is going faster than you? It's probably not because you are going really slow or the right speed. Have you ever been casually grocery shopping and have to move quickly to avoid other people power shopping up and down the aisles as if they were in Supermarket Sweeps? I often wonder are the groceries moving from aisle to aisle.? Are they trying to catch them? What about when walking from your car to an entrance of a business at the same time as another person.....it almost seems as if they are racing you there!
At the end of the day...all of these people are going nowhere fast, but may need to do so because its the only way they feel a sense of accomplishment. If you are one of those people..stop..take a second...take a breath...pace yourself...if you continue your entire life full speed a head...it is likely you are fast forwarding to your death.
Think about it....and ask yourself 3 questions: 1. What did you have for breakfast? Hopefully you didn't say nothing, coffee or fast food...poor nutrition is a detriment to your life span. 2. Who did you smile at today? If you answer no one, or I faked a smile shame on you. Smiling is healthy for the skin, the mind and body.
3. How much sleep do you get daily? (I said daily because naps are not a sin) according to the Mayo clinic*, 7-9 hours is recommended for adults and if you are not getting quality sleep, then the amount of sleep required increases. Now of course its difficult to commit to that much sleep which is why naps....are not a bad thing.
I suggest we all take the time to enjoy required tasks such as grocery shopping. Smile as much as you can and laughing is even better. Put food in your body meant to help nourish (with the occasional sinful treat of course). Full speed a head just means you reach your destination faster......and as with everything else our destination comes to an end.
